What is Portable Mobile Broadand ?
Though Mobile or portable broad is supplied mainly by the mobile phone suppliers, this type of broadband is NOT broadband for mobile phones. It is simply a portable device that plugs into the usb port of your computer or laptop and allows you to receive a broadband supply via the device which uses a mobile phone style sim card receiver.
Some refer to the usb connector as a dongle, others as a broadband stick, but basically all mobile or portable broadband is the same thing just with different designs of the usb stick which varies between the manufacturers.
Once plugged into your computeres usb port, so long as you can receive a signal to yoru dongle or broadband stick, then you will be able to connect to the internet wirelessly.
Mobile portable braodband is great for anyone on the move, who are not keen on having homebased telephone line broadband packages or who cannot actually get homebased broadband.
Though the services do vary between the suppliers, signal strengths vary from area to area which means that a person living in Central London may for example have a good signal on all the available mobile broadband networks, where as a person living in a rural area or a small village, may find they are restricted to one or two of the top broadband providers who can supply a good signal to more of the country.
When buying a mobile broadband dongle or stick, it is definately adviseable to double or even triple check that your area will be able to receive a good enough signal to receive broadband good enough to use effectively because if you are in a low signal area your connections will be slow and very frustrating unless you choose the strongest provider for your area.
